Nothing feels better than going for a nice sunny walk in the countryside then having a well deserved pub lunch accompanied by a cold refreshing drink!  Well Wirral is just teaming with fantastic walks and beautiful areas to visit.

Make the most of the Area

Wirral is a stunning peninsular that is so often missed by passers by and also so often overlooked by those living there.  There are so many stunning areas of beauty that we really should all get out there more and take advantage of what we have on our doorstep.

The Wirral Way

We are so fortunate on the Wirral to have the ‘Wirral Way’, a 12 mile stretch of disused railway line that has been covered over to create the perfect traffic-free pathway/cycleway, which runs from West Kirby all the way to Hooton in Chester. You can hop on and off the Wirral Way at various points and make your walk/cycle ride as long or as short as you like.

It doesn’t have to be a day’s hiking but it can just be an hour down to the Wirral Country Park or a stroll along the Heswall Dales.  However if you do fancy something that little bit more challenging then why not take a look at one of the below walks that have been created by ‘Visit Wirral’ to help you get to know the countryside in our area.

Wirral Walks near Heswall

A number of walks have been created by ‘Visit Wirral’ along with detailed descriptions and maps to help you along your way.

Walk 1 - Brimstage & Thornton Hough
Walk 2 - Parkgate & Gayton
Walk 3 - Heswall Dales and Fields

Please click HERE to go to www.visitwirral.com and download the walks and maps.  There are other walks on the Wirral that you will find on this website too, these are just the ones in our local area.  But by all means go out on a limb and create your own!

A well-earned reward!

A long (or even not so long) walk always feels better at the end with a nice refreshing pint and a hearty spot of lunch.  So why not join us at the Jug after your walk and enjoy a pint or glass of wine, or if it has been a cold wintery one then why not warm up those cockles with a nice steaming cuppa or an irresistible hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows!!
