As you are probably aware by now, the restaurant is currently closed and some work has been ongoing in the bar area.  Well we are now at the point that we need to close the bar in order to make the final changes.  The bar will close today (Monday 8th April) whilst the work is carried out.  All being well we will be back open in a few weeks time however we will put the definite re-opening date on the website and email you as soon as we know it.

The guesthouse will remain open during the next few weeks with breakfast being served in our restaurant.  We are within easy walking distance of many other drinking and eating establishments should you be looking for a bite to eat or a quiet drink over the next couple of weeks.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused but hope that you will be happy with the changes we make and we look forward to re-opening the kitchen with our fabulous new traditional homemade menu….we are taking The Jug and Bottle back to its roots as a traditional country-style inn serving the very best of locally sourced British food so keep an eye on the website for the introduction of our NEW menu and food service hours.

We are happy to welcome Steve Guile to the team at The Jug and Bottle who has come on board as the new manager. He is a local man, born in Heswall who has spent the last 11 years growing his career at The Wheatsheaf Inn in Raby. The Jug has always been the pub in the heart of Heswall and together with Steve’s energy and enthusiasm we feel that it is time to bring tradition and charm back to Heswall.

The pub will be open every day from 12.00pm as on Tuesday 4th December for drinks, hot beverages and bar snacks.

Steve looks forward to meeting you all very soon.
